Utassy is unique. Offering tuition in classical, character and contemporary dance in a professional theatre environment, we seek to educate on all levels.

Established in 1960, highlights have been our ongoing Peter and the Wolf season (now in its 34th year) the 50th Anniversary performance at the Playhouse (the Arts Centre), La Boheme Revisited accompanied by the 37 piece Nicholas Chamber Orchestra.

RAD and MDEC examinations are available, VCE Dance Units 1-4, Special Boys classes and Performance Experience including Annual Performances and Peter and the Wolf Season (offered from Senior 3rd upwards).

The program for the Junior School, drawing on use of imagery and games, integrates the children socially. It also establishes all the building blocks of important dance concepts including musicality, spatial awareness, alignment of body parts, coordination of the whole body and particularly onstage awareness. Through classical classes, the dancers are also prepared for all forms of dance in this way.

We offer tuition for beginners to professionals from the age of 4 onwards and many past students have made impressive contributions to professional dance, art, music, theatre and physical health industries.

“Dancing is an art which offers many cultural opportunities to those who participate – education of the mind, discipline of the body, and a healthy spirit.” – Eugene Utassy
